PE and Sport

We are lucky to have a large outdoor space which all children from F1 upwards use for PE and sport. Classes have access to specialist PE teaching and have opportunities to take part in many sports competitions each year including cross-country, basketball, hockey, football, cricket, tag rugby, gymnastics and athletics. We have just added Flag football (American Football) to our already wide curriculum.

As a platinum school sports award school, we prioritise PE and physical activity as part of teaching children what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. Every child has a daily #fitin15 session, linked to the national curriculum. This could be a yoga session, a dance session or a short team game, for example.

Our school sports coach leads one session for every class each week and delivers active playtimes and lunchtimes daily. In our playground, and F1 and F2 outdoor spaces, we have trim trails and climbing equipment to develop gross motor skills.

In addition to the weekly PE lessons in school, all lower KS2 children attend swimming lessons at the local pool in either Y3 or Y4.

Our PE and sports provision is supported by the sports premium. Details of how we spend the premium can be found here.
